About me

This is a blog that comes from the very core of who I am. It touches the closest to the expression of myself in what I do and who I am.  I am a teacher of religious studies: Old Testament (or Jewish TNK), New Testament (The 27 books accepted into the Christian biblical canon having to do with faith perspectives of the person of Jesus), and a survey of Western Philosophy.  All of which I love, and love teaching.

am a professional teacher.  I am not a professional scholar.  I am, if you will, a quasi-scholar. But somehow the teacher and the scholar cannot be separated.  I am that, yet neither am I that.

My perspective is one of a gay man who grew up Roman Catholic in the protestant South, went to seminary involving myself wholeheartedly into my studies to become a religious, and then left that pursuit, knowing full well that I was called to teach.  And here I am.  I claim nothing more or less than who I am; no special authority and no absolute perspective – just my own perspective.

I am a teacher of religious studies; a reader of books and player video games; a happy participant in the Walt Disney World experience; and most importantly, a blessed husband to an amazing man.

I share this perspective with you, gentle reader, in the hopes that we may find that we have more in common than we do differences.
