June 6, 2023: “We do not want to have equity and inclusion in our schools.“
This story is about the attempt to remove the superintendent of schools for Hernando County, FL. A member of “Moms For Liberty“, Shannon Rodriguez, says:
“We do not want to have equity and inclusion in our schools. We want to keep our schools traditional, the way that they were.”
That is the clearest statement I have heard yet. Thank you Ms. Rodriguez for being so open and honest about your bigotry.
Let’s hope there are more “green shirts” willing to stand up to such nonsense. (“Green shirts” is a reference from the NPR story.)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but he still hasn’t defined “woke.”
What does he mean by “cultural Marxism”? (ambiguous term)
What does he mean by “truth”? (also an ambiguous term.)
Is he implying that the philosopher Marx was a liar? Or just people who supposedly buy into his philosophy?
I Googled “identity politics.” Here is what I got:
“Identity politics is a political approach wherein people of a particular race, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, social background, social class, or other identifying factors develop political agendas that are based upon these identities.”
You mean that people whose rights have been trampled on want to be treated fairly and equitably!? Oh my goodness no!! (furious sarcasm.) You mean that in a “government of the people, by the people, and for the people” (Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg Address) ALL THE PEOPLE might want a say in how WE are treated? (I realize that his definition of identity politics also applies to people who are wealthy, or have different political views, such as fascism.)
Answering the question with such obfuscation shows that he is way smarter than Trump, and his fan base (who are either idiots, fascists, or both) is willing to accept nonsense like this.

Last night I received this private message from a former student of mine who has made a life for their family in Florida. I have redacted their name, references to their gender, the county that they teach in, and the name of their spouse. I even redacted the region of Florida that they teach in. Their safety, and the safety of their family, is priority.
However, as we are in the midst of all this, and I have been posting a lot about it, I thought that sharing this was important, as it was from someone “in the trenches,” as it were.
